German Language Olympics 2014

On 7 May 2014 the Irish German Language Olympics in Dublin took place.

On 7 May 2014 the Irish German Language Olympics took place in Dublin for the first time. The ten best German secondary school students in Ireland took part.

Secondary school students from different parts of the country competed together through German. The students had to put their abilities in the areas of reading and listening to the test. However, most important was their spoken skills. In groups the students prepared short presentations on a topic and had to orally present them in front of the judges.

After a tight head-to-head competition the medals were awarded to the best students: Gold went to Ali Anshasi from Templeogue College Dublin, silver to Paul Crampton from Colaiste Phobal Roscrea and bronze to Tadhg Treacy from CBS Highschool Clonmel. Congratulations to the winners!

The International German Olympics take place every two years and are organized by the International German Association in conjunction with the Goethe-Institut.
